The wellbeing and commitment of our employees is vital in enabling us to innovate and continually develop our range of products and services. With this in mind, we strongly encourage our staff to interact respectfully with each other and to recognise and respond to each other’s individual needs. Everyone has the right to develop their potential according to their specific skills and abilities.
Focusing on people and dialogue
A comprehensive internal and external training programme is available to all employees to develop their skills. We also promote open dialogue and interaction. Among other things, we regularly evaluate our employees’ understanding of our corporate values and invite them to support the advancement and application of social values.
The commitment and willingness to communicate shown by all of the groups represented within our company allows us to carry out any necessary restructuring initiatives without social conflicts. A total of 191 works agreements were concluded in 2016 alone, including 13 relating to health and safety. As of the end of 2016, 67% of the workforce was covered by collective wage agreements. The number of trade unions represented within the Group has been unchanged for several years at 34.
Championing equality and respect for human rights
Respecting human rights and combating discrimination are among SULO’s guiding principles. Ever since we published our first Code of Conduct in 2003, ethics have been an integral part of our business practice, not only in respect of our own activities but also those of our suppliers. This Code of Conduct reaffirms the Group’s commitment to fulfilling its 13 self-imposed obligations and ensuring that they are observed by all of our employees with regard to equal treatment, environmental protection, tackling corruption and fraud, and conflicts of interest.
Actively reinforcing regional structures
SULO’s ambition is to promote local economic development at all of its sites and build partnerships with regional stakeholders. Instead of a simple production chain, this approach creates a profitable value chain that serves the local community.
